SGRH TO TREAT THE ACID ATTACK VICTIM FREE OF COST
The unfortunate female victim of acid attack who was brought to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 02nd April, 2013 late night is currently in stable condition. The hospital would like to observe her for a week or so before taking a decision on her discharge from the hospital.
Meanwhile, as the family is from the poorer section of the society, the Chairman (BOM), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Dr D.S . Rana , decided to waive of her full treatment cost incurred during her stay at the hospital. Dr. D.S. Rana said, “Our first priority is to restore her vision and try to bring her back to the main frame of the society”.
Explaining the current medical condition of the victim Dr. A.K. Grover, Chairman, Department of Opthalmology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said “when the girl was brought to us she had a severe chemical injury with epithelial loss and over 180 degrees lymbal ischaemia. In view of very guarded prognoses due to severe lymbal ischemia, the full medical management and amniotic membrane grafting has been done to minimize the chances of complications with this we hope to save her vision of the left eye in due course of time. Right eye is essentially normal”.
According to Dr. Mahesh Mangal, Chairman, Department of Plastic Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said “we are accessing the depth of the wounds on the face, neck and chest. She is responding well to the treatment. As and when required we will perform skin grafting”.
