During the meeting, the Members of the Board deliberated upon and approved key projects/schemes to benefit the citizens of Delhi. The Board considered and approved the DJB budget to the tune of Rs. 1755 crores for the Plan and Rs. 2874.12 crores for non-Plan for the year 2017-18.
Taking cue from the digital India initiative of Government of India, DJB has launched new android based tablets for more accurate billing from water metres thereby brining transparency in the revenue management system of Delhi Jal Board. Few key features of the device are:
- Simple and easy steps for Bill Generation
- Meter reading by capturing the GPS (latitude – longitude).
- Photographs of the Water meters will be taken so that no tampering of reading can be done at any end.
- New connection process is captured quickly thereby decreasing the lengthy process.
For bringing about overall improvement of the water distribution system, the Board accorded approval to the proposal for laying of feeder mains from proposed 37.10ML capacity Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla to augment water supply to Holambi Kalan UGR, Bawana UGR, Sanjay Gandhi Transpport Nagar, Siraspur UGR and the areas in its command. After laying of these water lines, complaints of frequent loss of precious water and damage to the crops will be redressed. The Board also deliberated upon the proposal of providing sewerage facility in Bhupender Singh Nagar group of colonies under Keshopur WWTP Catchment area, Bhalswa and Wazirabad group of colonies under Coronation Pillar WWTP Catchment area.
The Board accorded the approval to the proposal for construction of 8 MGD waste water pumping station alongwith pumping main for lifting and discharging sewage received under gravity from Ghitorni village, Ghitorni enclave, Shanti Kunj and adjoining areas. The estimated cost of the work is 7.65 crores. Approval was also given for the construction of 4MGD waste water pumping station at Okhla Vihar alongwith P/L pumping mains and related appurtenant works near Okhla. At present, sewage of all the colonies under the catchment of Okhla Vihar WWPS is flowing into drains and ultimately out falling to River Yamuna. After commissioning of the WWPS, sewage generated in these areas will be trapped and pumped to Okhla WWTP for final treatment which will ultimately improve sanitation condition in the area and help in abatement of pollution from the river.
Encouraged by the massive response from the public, DJB decides to further extend the scheme of 100 percent LPSC (Late Payment Surcharge) rebate due on accumulated arrears as on 31 July, 2016 to all commercial consumers till 30th June, 2017. All commercial consumers (individual and bulk) of DJB having a functional water meter and those consumers who will install the water meter before the closing date will be eligible under the scheme. Commercial consumers can pay such actual arrears by 30th June, 2017 in one go or through a maximum of four instalments. However, LPSC rebate would be admissible only after payment of full principal arrears/ dues by 30-06-2017.
The Board also extended the Scheme of reduced rates of sewer and water development charges of unauthorized/ regularized colonies, the Delhi Jal Board has decided to extend this scheme till 30-06-2017. This measure is focussed on providing convenience to consumers and the Board is encouraging more and more people to apply for regularization of domestic unauthorized water connections to bring them into the ambit of its water and sewage network.
