“Improving core value of the hospital i am concentrating on” says Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman – Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital & much more in an Exclusive Interview with our Editor-in-Chief Tarun Sharma.

Exclusive Interview of Dr Ajay Swaroop, Chairman – Board of Management , Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi with our Editor-in-Chief Tarun Sharma.

When did you joined SGRH and  what was it that you joined SGRH only.

I joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 1984 after completing my Senior Residency at LNJP.

Please tell us some interesting experiences of your during your academic years and what difficulties you faced in your times during your studies vis-a-vis today scenario.

I joined MAMC in 1971. The first change was in school, i was one of the few toppers but here all the toppers joined so the competition was tough.

Electronic media, Google, facebook were not there in our times so all information which i gathered was from lecture, tutorials, books as unlike today where a lot of hands on training is available online.

What were the hardships if any you might have faced in the initial years of your career.

Private practice involves so many things other than your competence only, you have to visit doctors of your area,  do lot of networking.

After assuming the charge of Chairman – Board of Management   at SGRH, What changes according to you should be incorporated to take this hospital to next higher levels.

As Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital i am concentrating on improving the core value of this hospital : Ethical / Efficient Medical Practice, Excellent Nursing Care, Excellent Patient Comfort.

The other key point is extension of hospital to other areas.

SGRH being a trust has been helping the poor patient by giving them free treatment or to say treatment at a very nominal cost, how is this being made possible year after year.

“If you have genuine desire of doing charity it is possible”.

At SGRH we follow a Socialistic Pattern: “Rich pay for the poor and hospital only makes a surplus so that it is a self sustaining model” .

Being a multispeciality hospital, what are the key treatments that attract international medical tourism and where do you stand in terms of global medical standards.

Medical Tourism is in high profile specialities like liver transplant, kidney transplant, Haemo Oncology and for that we have excellent setup.

What initiatives does the hospital takes in educating and sensitising the public at large on health issues.

Our hospital conducts various Seminars and talks on various Health topics.
