B S BASSI ,CP DELHI LAUNCHES PHABLETS IN 500 PCR PATROLS FOR SEAMLESS CONNECTIVITY

CP Delhi inaugurated the launch of Phablets in 500 PCR patrols for seamless connectivity at Police Headquarters, Delhi. This was a joint CSR initiative with ONGC.
The PCR staff often needs to make many calls and coordinate at various levels specially in case of taking injured persons to the hospital, tracking missing/stranded children, senior citizens, women in distress and other weaker sections. This requires the staff to make lots of calls at their personal expenditure. Even for giving Haalat report mobile phones were used as wireless network is often busy. In repeated sampark sabhas grievance was highlighted by staff about substantial financial expenditure at their level for official purpose.
Search was made for an advanced gadget to match aim of smart policing-combining videography, storage of data related to missing persons, stolen vehicles, direct interfacing of call taker at Control Room with I/c MPV’s etc.
Initiative was taken to approach companies under CSR. ONGC showed willingness to provide Phablets that would reduce Response time especially in case of women caller in distress & Road accident victims.
The Samsung galaxy tabs( ) emerged as the appropriate technology with features such as Minimum 32 Bit Quad Core 1.2 GHz, Minimum 5 MP Camera, 7 inch display screen, 8 GB minimum internal storage, 3G connectivity and battery 3600 MAH alloying operation for more than 08 hours continuously.
After intensive training of staff, 500 Phablets have been distributed across 11 PCR zones. This technology will go a long way in reducing response time to all kinds of distress calls.
