Union Minister for State for Power  inaugurates IIIT at Naya Raipur

Shri  Piyush  Goyal  hon’ble   Minister of State, (independent charge) for  Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy   Govt  of India  inaugurated the International Institute of Information Technology  at Naya Raipur today. Speaking on the occasion , Shri  Goyal said the state of art  IIIT would be catalyst in attracting the scientific talents from the entire country Dr Raman Singh,  Hon’ ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh  declared as historic day as this has placed Chhattisgarh  in the category of  international level institutes. Dr Arup Roy Choudhary ,Chairman and Managing  Director, NTPC Limited was  present on the occasion. Shri  Prem Prakash  Pandey , Minister of Revenue & Disaster Management Rehabilitation ,Higher education Technical Education Man Power  Planning  Science and Technology, Chhattisgarh said that the Institute would not only be of information technology  but would  also cater to  SMAC Social Media &Mobility,AI & Automation,Cloud Computing ,&Analytics,Cyber Security  Medical Systems.

The IIIT has  been  established at the cost of Rs 200 crore by NTPC  as part of the CSR  initiative in the area of education The IIIT campus is spread over 50 acres land situated in Naya Raipur. In the first phase of 25 acres,has various Infra structure facilities to give the best to the students. The campus has basically four broad areas.

The academic session will start from August 10,2015 . The first batch of  80 students  will get a fee waiver in the first year academic year after which in the following years  100% fee waiver for 50% of all the students for 2^nd year and subsequent years 33% of all the students for 3^rd year and 25% in the 4^th year. After which the Institute completes four years  that is 2109-20, 25% students from all the batches will be given 100 %tuition fee waiver.

The campus is self reliant and have been provided with facilities like shopping center, canteen etc. As the students & staff hoist from different geographical locations and social background  campus has a multipurpose hall in which a gym/Indoor sports with a capacity of 500 people is available. To enable and encourage art & culture among communities amphitheatre is also provided in the campus.
