Special Cell of Delhi Police arrests two drug traffickers,recovers 80 gms cocaine valued  around 1 crore in international market

VALUED AROUND 1 CRORE IN THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET

 

A team of Special Cell led by Inspectors Umesh Barthwal and Neeraj Kumar under the supervision of Sh Manishi Chandra, ACP has arrested two drug traffickers and recovered  80 grams of fine quality of cocaine.  The approximate value of contraband is estimated to be Rs. 1 crore in the international market.  This is one of the biggest haul of cocaine by the Delhi Police in recent times.

 

INFORMATION, TEAM AND OPERATION:

 

Special Cell has been working drug cartels active in Delhi & NCR areas. One such cartel was identified trading in high grade cocaine, MD, Ice and other party drugs. These drug  traffickers were supplying drugs to youths at very high rates in a discreet manner. Both technical and human intelligence were deployed to develop information about the persons involved in this illicit trade of drug trafficking. On 5th October 2013, specific information was received that Vaibhav, r/o Pritampura, Delhi is supplying Cocaine to a large number of customers in Delhi and UP after procuring the same from Delhi based Nigerian traffickers in Paschim Vihar. It was further ascertained that Saturday being a weekend; the supply of Cocaine will be in large scale.

 

A trap was laid near Raddisson Hotel, Paschim Vihar, Delhi where the consignment of drugs expected to exchange hands. However, the suspect changed the plans and technical surveillance revealed that the exchange of contrabands would now  be made near Khyala Naala Road, near Keshopur Depot, Outer Ring Road. Immediately, team rushed to Khyala drain road and laid a trap. Soon, one person came from Khayala side on a two wheeler while a Nigerian national, came from Peeragarhi side, after a few minutes stopped next to person on two wheeler they exchanged contrabands in a very discreet manner. The police team swung into action and apprehended them. They were identified as 1) Vaibhav Gupta @ Chotu Delhi ( aged 25 years) , r/o Pitampura, Delhi and (2) Joshua Izuu,( aged 28 years) r/o LGA, Imo State, Nigeria, and presently staying at Janakpuri, Delhi. Their search led to   recovery of 10 gms Narcotic substance from the possession of Vaibhav Gupta while 70 gms of drugs was recovered from the possession of Joshua Izuu.  Some cash was also recovered from Joshua Izuu which he had then received from Vaibhav against the delivery of contraband. A case under NDPS Act has been registered at PS Special Cell.

 

INTERROGATION:-

During the sustained interrogation, Vaibhav Gupta @ Chhotu Delhi has revealed that he was born in February 1988. His father runs a NGO in Rohini area while his mother is a teacher. He has graduated from correspondence from UP. For the last four years, he is working in a factory owned by his uncle in Khayala and earns Rs. 10,000/- per month. He was involved in cricket betting during IPL and suffered huge losses. He also took loan from at high rates of interest and had to pay huge amount of interest per month to his money lenders. His friend induced him to join his business of drug trafficking as it was highly profitable. His friend gave the contact details of a Nigerian national, who is a kingpin of the drug cartel and is involved in large scale supply of drugs in Delhi. Vaibhav procured Cocaine at the rate of Rs. 2,000/- per gram and sold the same for Rs. 3,500/- to 4,000/- to his clients. During the weekend, the demand of drugs is high and so were the profits.

Joshua Izuu was born and brought up in Nigeria. He has studied up to SS 3 there. In year 2010, he came to Mumbai, India through an agent to purchase some clothes and to sell them in Nigeria. In Mumbai, he stayed at Mohammad Ali Road with a friend. He kept US $ 1,800 with his agent who cheated him and fled with his money. He had to work at a restaurant for some time where his Nigerian colleague gave him contact number of the kingpin of drug cartel in Delhi and induced him to join the cartel. He came to Delhi and contacted the kingpin and joined his trade. He is summoned near pillar no. 504, Janakpuri, Delhi by kingpin and then given phone and consignment of Cocaine for onward delivery to clients. The client used to contact Joshua on phone for the delivery of Cocaine. In this manner, Joshua had delivered a huge amount of Cocaine to various peddlers and consumers.

Both the accused are members of a large drug cartel involving Nigerian nationals based in Delhi and Mumbai. They have been procuring other party drugs from various parts of India and supplying them in Delhi and NCR areas.

 

Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the kingpin of the drug cartel to unearth the entire network. Further investigation is in progress.
