REC Contributes Rs. 1 Crore to CM Relief fund, Odisha
New Delhi : Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd.,the leading Navratna Company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, made a contribution ofRupees One Crore to the Chief Minister‘s Relief Fund, Odisha,towardsrelief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in therecent cycloneaffected areas in the State.
Rajeev Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, REC, presented the cheque to Chief Minister, Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, in Bhubaneswar, on 22nd November, in presence of Pradeep Kumar Jena I.A.S, Commissioner-cum-Secretary,Energy Deptt., Govt. of Odisha, P.J.Thakkar,Director (Technical), REC, A.K.Agarwal, Director (Finance), REC, S.K.Lohani, I.A.S, Executive Director, REC, besidesother senior officials of REC.
REC, as a socially conscious corporate citizen, has been allocating a portion of its profits for CSR and Sustainability initiatives taken up across the country, 1% during the current financial year. In addition to the contribution to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, REC has identified and takenup several CSR and Sustainability projects in the state of Odisha, with the objective of improving the long term socio economic conditions of the people impacted, directly as well as indirectly, by such initiatives. Such CSR initiatives have focused on job-oriented skill development programmes for persons from economically weaker sections of society in select backward districts, creation/up-gradation of infrastructure in schools in select districts, extending solar lighting in select remoteun-electrified villages, implementation of Solar PV Smart Mini Grids in selectoff-grid locations in Dhenkanal District, and integrated village development in select villages in the State.
