Power Sector – Northern Region of BHEL commissions 2,053 MW in FY 2012-13
New Delhi, May 3: Out of the 10,340 MW of capacity addition in FY 2012-13 by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), the company’s Power Sector – Northern Region (PS-NR) construction division contributed 2,053 MW.
This includes addition of 1,654 MW in Utility sets, 259 MW from overseas projects and 120 MW from R&M Projects.
Utility sets were commissioned at Jhajjar, Parichha, Harduaganj, Bawana, Ramgarh and Chutak, while the generating capacity of Bhatinda Unit-3 was successfully enhanced from 110 MW to 120 MW under the Renovation & Modernisation programme. In the international market, BHEL PS-NR commissioned a record 259.5 MW at Libya, Vietnam & Tajikistan. In addition, overhauling of 115 Thermal & Hydro sets was also done by BHEL PS-NR during the year.
Presently, BHEL PS-NR is establishing three supercritical units each of 660 MW at Bara and Lalitpur sites in Uttar Pradesh besides other running projects in the domestic market and is also executing international projects in Afghanistan, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Belarus, and Vietnam during the current year.
