NITI AAYOG APPRECIATES ODISHA GOVERNMENT EFFORTS
Appreciating efforts of Odisha Government, the NITI Aayog said it is keen to work in partnership with the Odisha Government on converged schemes.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said here today after a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at State Secretariat.
“We are working under a federal structure. Our prime objective is to integrate the central government schemes with that of the state government. We are also working out a plan on how to implement these converged schemes under the Aspirational District Initiative as we want Odisha to be the leading state in the implementation of this programme”, said Mr.Kant.
NITI Aayog would mainly focus on development of health, education, agriculture and skill development sectors in Odisha, Mr.Kant said.
Describing Odisha as a developing state, he lauded the efforts of the BJD government for socio-economic development of the poor and backward communities.
Notably, earlier he had attended a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi to discuss implementation of the centrally-sponsored programmes in State. Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan was present along with other senior officials.
Prabhari Officers of Aspirational Districts like Usha Padhee, Sundeep Nayak, Jatindra Nath Swain, Sanjeev Chadha and others attended the meeting.
Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi harped on various crucial issues pertaining to these Backward Districts, which need attention of the Union Government.
Problems of low banking penetration, poor internet connectivity, more funding provisions and other issues were raised by Mr.Padhi, which was appreciated by NITI Aayog CEO Mr.Kant, said sources.
