MOU SIGNED BETWEEN  Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Joint Venture Company of CPSUs under Ministry of Power, and Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (RECL)

New Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Joint Venture Company of CPSUs under Ministry of Power, and Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (RECL), a Navratna Company under Ministry of Power on 30th September 2013 in New Delhi, for installation of Solar based LED Street Lights in 5 Districts of Arunachal Pradesh covering around 20 remote villages under CSR Activity of RECL. The MoU was signed by P.J. Thakkar, Director (Technical), RECL and Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, EESL, in the presence of  Rajeev Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, REC.

EESL will install LED based Solar Street Lighting to the remote villages of Arunachal Pradesh and will contribute to REC’s corporate social vision, in line with their core business of financing rural electricity services, and also promotion of sustainable green and energy efficient technologies thereby contributing towards modernization of society in accordance with Government of India Guidelines on CSR and Sustainability for CPSEs.  The direct beneficiaries from this project shall be the rural populationof 20 remote villages in five backward Districts of Arunachal Pradesh, namely, (i)  Upper Siang, (ii)Dibang Valley, (iii) Lower Dibang Valley, (iv) KurungKumey, and (v) Lohit.

The project, besides providing access to electricity in the remoteun-electrified villages, would contributefor welfare and security of the residents.
