General Manager, Punjab National Bank hands over vehicle key to an Agrientrepreneur under High Value Agriculture Scheme of PNB

Punjab National Bank, Kashipur Circle in collaboration with PNB Farmers’ Welfare Trust (FWT) organized a programme under PNB Ladli, women empowerment and High Value Agriculture at Sitarganj.

The Ladli scheme aims at promoting education among school girls of rural and semi-urban areas. On the occasion, Sh. Vimlesh Kumar ,General Manager ,PNB (Meerut Zone) in the presence of Sh. G K Negi , Circle Head, Kashipur Circle, Sh.Chetan Joshi, Branch Head, Sh. D S Rana, Branch Head,Sh. Dhirendra Pratap Yadav ,Manager-Agri distributed scholarship of Rs 2,500, each including books, stationeries, tracksuits, sports kits ,school bags and uniforms to 10 poorest of poor girl students of Junior High School, Gaurikhera, Sitarganj, U S Nagar. 54 other students of the school got benefitted under CSR activities of PNB.
These girl students will continue to get the scholarship every year till completion of their 12th Class.

In the series of event, Sh. Vimlesh Kumar, General Manager inaugurated a Self Help Group Credit Linkage Camp, where he handed over sanction letters to over 25 women SHGs comprising 300 women SHG Members. President ,Secretary & Treasurer of different Self Help Groups like Saadni, Shivji, SaiBaba, Jai Ganesh ,Suraj ,Chanda ,Vandana ,Jyoti ,Jwala ,Monu ,Shanti ,Jaimata ,Roshnni etc. witnessed this grand event. A few Self Help Group who have started economic activities shared their experienced during the event.
One of the progressive farmers of the region Mr. Harpreet Singh was handed over the keys of four wheeler under vehicle purchase scheme of the Punjab National Bank, one of the High Value Agriculture Scheme of Bank.

Speaking on this occasion , Sh. Kumar said that Girls’ education & women empowerment are like a lifeline to a nation’s economic growth especially in a country like India, where still nearly 60 % of the population resides in villages. He said that Agriculture needs to be looked as a viable business model, not just as a production activity. There are a lot of possibilities in Agriculture and Indian youth have potential to turn agriculture into a viable business activity through diversification and use of ICT tools (Information, Communication & Technologies)


He further added that in real sense, women SHGs possess incredible potential of promoting the growth of rural women and boost holistic socio-economic development scenario in rural India. SHGs have power to reach new heights in transforming New India.


Sh. G K Negi,Circle Head emphasized that offering girl education is one sure way of giving them much greater power of enabling them to make genuine choices over the kinds of lives they wish to lead.


In changing financial landscapes, Self Help Groups have vast potential & opportunity to emerge as a driver to expand the financial inclusion agenda of the country.


Sh. Negi ,Circle Head assured the gathering that PNB would always be actively involved in exploring & promoting women SHGs as a successful business model tool in the region.
The programme was co-ordinated by Mr. Dhirendra Pratap Yadav, Manager (Agri) and it was informed that PNB is financing under different Agriculture Schemes like Soil Health Card, Farm House Structure, Contract Farming, Organic Farming, Horticulture etc. This programme was appreciated by District Administration.
