ERP EMPLOYMENT BY DELHI JAL BOARD TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY
DJB EMPLOYS ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY
Delhi Jal Board, as part of itsefforts to increase efficiency and performance, across the system, is has to launch an ambitious project to introduce Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). DJB has engaged ICSIL (Intelligent Communications Systems India Limited), a GNCT of Delhi company. The timeframe for execution is 4 months. The ERP system is being introduced in an attempt to integrate the entire functioning of DJB by making it easier to store and manage data at every stage of its activities.
Deploying the ERP softwares would help DJB to integrate its dispersed organizational systems to facilitate convenient decision-making, execution and monitoring of projects by the top level of management, bringing in more accountability at all levels of execution of projects and delivery of services.
As DJB is transmuting from a purely engineering-driven organization to an end-to-end services delivery organization, efforts are being made to revamp its finance and accounting system by introducing the ERP system resulting in better management of spending, optimization of resources, compliance with financial reporting requirements and streamlining of financial operations in relation to the projects and core services. The ERP system will also help the top management to gain a real-time insight into its overall financial performance leading to better and more informed decision-making.
This move will also, positively, affect the management and maintenance of DJB’s assets, as it will improve DJB’s preventive maintenance practices and also help in keeping a real-time track of its assets by documenting virtually everything associated with each machinery/asset including purchase price, scheduled maintenance, repairs, service histories, engineers’ credentials, accidents, and more. In addition, it will also help in determining the lifecycle costs of equipment, allowing for smarter purchasing decisions in the future.
The deployment of the ERP system will overhaul DJB’s project management and Supply Chain Management systems by bringing in much more efficiency through better informed and speedy decision-making. It will become easier for the officials to get a real-time assessment of projects and respond accordingly, increasing efficiencies on the part of project delivery and project monitoring.
In order to provide better convenience to its employees the HRMS/Payroll system would also be integrated into the system, resulting in better transitioning for the employees from one deputation to another, as a result increasing overall time efficiency.
With a mandate to, increasingly, provide better customer experience to its huge base of valued customers, DJB will introduce certain value-added services through the ERP systems. This will help the officers better understand the needs of the customers and lead to holistic decision-making.
To upgrade its Court Case and Vigilance Management system, DJB will also put in place an alert system to inform and follow-up on the legal cases and to facilitate matters pertaining to the Vigilance Department. The system would send-out timely alerts to the officials handling the legal cases and follow-up alerts resulting in better compliance and timely Redressal. The deployment of the Collaboration Suite softwares would assist DJB in managing the data inflow and outflow with its partners which can be accessed real-time by the DJB officers, enhancing the capability of the decision-making processes, which would in turn induce better efficiencies.
DJB will also look to develop needs-based softwares using the ERP system to align its activities, increase efficiency and cut-back on the loss of time and resources, making it a more efficient utility. As part of its mandate, DJB will better the system of providing quick and speedy redressals to public grievances by deploying a single window public grievance system and integrating it with the queries requested under the RTI Act. To provide better convenience and ease for its customers, DJB will revamp its website and develop it into an interactive website making information more accessible.
