Special drive held for removal/towing away of unauthorisedly parked vehicles from roads & ‘No Parking’ areas on 01.10.2014 as part of “Swachchh Bharat Mission”

A special drive was carried out all over Delhi for removal/towing away of unauthorisedly parked vehicles from roads & ‘No Parking’ areas and prosecuting them as part of “Swachchh Bharat Mission” on 01.10.2014.
All traffic circles participated in the special drive in their respective areas which was closely monitored by respective Addl. CsP/Traffic, DCsP/Traffic-Ranges and ACsP/Traffic-Districts.
A total of 82 teams of traffic police officers alongwith cranes were deployed to tow away and prosecute unauthorisedly parked vehicles on roads in addition to other area traffic officers who applied wheel clamps to vehicles and prosecuted violators on the spot. This intensive drive covered all arterial roads, commercial areas, market places such as Vikas Marg, Connaught Place, Aurobindo Marg, Kamla Nagar, Chandni Chowk, Asaf Ali Road, JLN Marg, Karol Bagh, South Extn., Sarojini Nagar, Jail Road, Najafgarh Road, Patel Road, Road No. 41, Wazirpur Road, Azad Market, Mall Road, Central Market (Lajpat Nagar), Press Enclave Road etc.
During the drive, a total of 3,631 violators were prosecuted for parking their vehicles unauthorisedly on roads and in “No Parking” areas. Out of these 593 vehicles were towed away by the cranes & prosecuted whereas 3,038 prosecutors were prosecuted on the spot. Wheels of 172 vehicles were clamped.
