VENKY VENKATESH NAMED THE CEO OF LEADING NEWS AGENCY PTI
New Delhi : Press Trust of India (PTI) has named Venky Venkatesh, HT Media Ltd’s chief learning officer, as the news agency’s chief executive in a board meeting headed by PTI chairman Hormusji N. Cama.
Venkatesh will replace M.K. Razdan, editor-in-chief and CEO who was at PTI for 50 years.
“He has been selected and we have made an offer to him. We hope he will take PTI’s journey forward. We have been wanting to get started on video clips and get us more digital exposure,” Cama said over the phone.
PTI employs more than 400 journalists and 500 stringers to cover almost every district and small town in India. Collectively, they put out more than 2,000 stories and 200 photographs a day to feed its subscribers.
Venkatesh has spent 10 years at HT Media. He has also worked as the business head for HT Media in north and east, a stint during which he worked closely with the editorial and business teams. Venkatesh is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and started his career with Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
