Three day workshop for mine employees initiated by NLC

In association with St. John Ambulance Association local centre and the Tamilnadu Mine Safety Association, NLC India organised a 3 day workshop and Hands-on training for Mine employees from 20.10.17 to 22.10.17.The valedictory function for the three day workshop was held at Learning & Development Centre on 22.10.17 wherein a large number of Mine employees and senior executives participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.K. Acharya, President of the function, stressed the utmost importance of First Aid training for Industrial Complexes and the need for everyone to willingly come forward and get them trained in First Aid. He also appealed to one and all to inculcate the habit of helping others who are in distress with voluntary spirit. He said, attitude of Helping with skill will largely help the society. He lauded the efforts taken by the St. John Ambulance local centre. While a total of 529 members were given training in 2016-17, 109 members were trained in this three day workshop consisting members from 7 other Industries of Tamilnadu. 80 of them from NLCI, 29 were from other agencies on First Aid Concepts like Head Injury, Fractures, Haemorrhage, Cardiac arrest , Domestic & Industrial safety and essential organ safe guard of a victim etc.
St. John Ambulance Association, dedicated to the teaching and practice of medical First Aid was founded in 1877 and has more than 500,000 volunteers worldwide today. It has 23 State centres in India and is engaged in imparting First Aid training to children and young people throughout the country. The St. John Ambulance Association has a local centre in Neyveli, carrying out its activities related to First Aid training in tandem with the Medical Branch of NLC India Limited, Neyveli.
Felicitations were extended by Shri V. Thangapandian, Director/Power, NLC India Ltd., Shri Shyam Mishra, DDMS, Chennai Region and Dr. P. Ravi, CGS/Medical & Secretary, St. John Ambulance Local Centre. Shri K.Mohan Reddy,CGM,NLCIL, Zonal Secretary, TNMSA, Dr. K. Janardhan, Chairman, St. John Ambulance Local Centre, welcomed the gathering. Vote of thanks was rendered by Dr. V. Subramaniam, Treasurer, St. John Ambulance Local Centre.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. A Souvenir was released by Dr. S.K. Acharya, CMD, and NLCIL to commemorate the occasion.
