SMT. MADHU BANSAL, WIFE OF SH. PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL , MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS INAUGURATES RAIL MELA AT NORTHERN RAILWAY HEADQUARTERS TODAY
Smt. Madhu Bansal, wife of Hon’ble Minister for Railways Sh. Pawan Kumar Bansal inaugurated the Rail Mela on the premises of its Zonal Headquarters Office, Baroda House, Copernicus Marg (near India Gate) New Delhi this evening. Organised by Northern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (NRWWO), the three-day will be held upto 9.00 p.m. on 3rd February 2013. Other distinguished guests include Smt. Poonam Mittal President, Railway Women’s Welfare Central Organisation, Sh. V.K.Gupta General Manager, Northern Railway, Smt. Nishi Gupta President, NRWWO. Senior Railway officers from all divisions of the zone, Members of Railway Women’s Welfare organizations, staff and media were also present on the occasion. The timings of the Fair are from 11.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on 2nd and 3rd February 2013. The entry ticket for Adults is Rs.10/- and for children Rs.5/-
Commending the efforts of NRWWO on the occasion, Smt. Bansal also appreciated the gesture of the organization to allocate the proceeds from this event to the welfare of Railway employees and their families.
Some of the highlights of this Mela are Food Courts, Cultural programmes, Free Medical Check- up etc. Blending entertainment with education are special features for Children like Joy train, games, Train model, gardening sessions, Drawing & Painting Competition. Shoppers’ delights include Sarees from Kolkata, Patna, Lucknowi work, Jaipuri & Johdpuri suits, Chanderi & South Indian Sarees, Khurja pottery etc.
NRWWO, a voluntary non-profitable society set up in 1960 managed by spouses of Northern Railway Officers. It undertakes activities for the welfare of the family of Railway employees and run schools for children/ward of Railway employees. It also provides valuable facilities and medical instruments to railway hospitals, financial help to widows and patients, organizes blood donation camps, grants scholarships for technical education of wards of railway employees etc. The organization also runs Samvedna day care centre for special children. It also reaches out to the need of the general society in times of calamities.
