SENSATIONAL KAROL BAGH THEFT CASE OF FOUR CRORES OF DIAMOND/GOLD JEWELRY WORKED OUT.
MORE THAN 95% STOLEN JEWELLERY AND TSR USED IN COMMISSION OF CRIME RECOVERED.
New Delhi: Crime Branch arrested two desperate criminals namely Maqsood (42 yrs)r/o Uttrakhand and Naseem (26 yrs) UP, and recovered more than 95% of stolen diamond/gold jewellery alongwith the TSR used in commission of crime.
INCIDENT:-
Sh. Rajesh Jain, Partner of Jalandhar Jewellery House, Karol Bagh reported that Mr. Arjun Dass had arrived in Delhi from Jalandhar City Punjab by Shatabdi Express with diamond, gold and polky jewellery worth Rs. 2.25 crore approximately. Outside New Delhi Railway Station, he had hired a TSR for Bank Street Karol Bagh for Rs.50. After sitting in TSR, its driver allowed another person to sit beside Arjun Dass. After covering some distance, one TSR driver also joined them. After reaching Jhandewalan Chowk, they asked him to get down from the TSR because they want to go to Filmistan but Arjun Dass refused to get down. After reaching at the destination, he checked his briefcase and found two jewellery boxes missing and one brick was found in place of jewellery box. During further assessment by complainant, the value of the stolen jewellery was found to be Rs. 4 crore.
INFORMATION AND THE OPERATION:-
On 13.04.15, HC Mohan Singh and HC Tejbir received information from secret informer that “Bijnaur TSR Gang” members have committed this diamond jewellery theft and they are planning go to Nepal alongwith stolen diamond/gold jewellery. The information further entailed that the gang member would come by TSR via Majnu Ka Tila to board bus at ISBT.
On this information, a team of Northern Range led by DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta consisting of ACP Ram Mehar Singh, Inspr. Baljit Singh, SI Baljeet Singh, HCs Mohan, Tejvir, Pradeep, Cts Jagbir, Amit, Sunil and Ajay was constituted under the supervision of Addl.CP Ashok Chand to nab the culprits.
After confirming the information, the police team laid a trap near Majnu Ka Tila, Delhi and apprehended (i) Naseem (26 yrs) , r/o UP, (ii) Maqsood (42 yrs) r/o UP. The stolen diamond/ gold/polky jewellery has been recovered from their possession.
INTERROGATION:-
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused Maqsood has expertise in stealing valuables from the passenger’s briefcase/suitcase in moving TSR auto. He is assisted by the TSR driver Naseem, Saleem and other associate Manoj @ Kaku in committing such thefts. They target the passengers of Rajdhani/Shatabdi express who look for cheap fare TSRs. They would identify their target and offer him ride for his destination at very cheap fare. Once the targeted passenger sits in TSR, the driver would tactfully joins his gang members one by one, who remain present nearby in disguise of passengers. They would board the TSR alongside passenger and sit in such an arrangement that belongings of the passenger hides from his view. Accused Maqsood acts as “Machine” and would open the suitcase/bag and steal valuables form it. He would also place some object equal in size and weight in the suitcase/bag, so that the victim could not detect theft while alighting.
In the present case, on 09/04/15, accused Naseem, Maqsood, Saleem and Kaku assembled at I.T.O. at around 10:30 am and then they moved for New Delhi Railway Station in search of the target. At about 11:15 am, they spotted the victim Arjun Dass who was carrying a briefcase and was looking for TSR. They identified him as the target and started to act as per their modus operandi. Accused Saleem was already sitting on passenger seat of TSR and the driver Naseem offered him ride at a very low fare. Rs. 50 was fixed as fare for dropping him at Bank Street, Gurduwara Road Karol Bagh. Once the victim sat inside the TSR, another associate Maqsood also sat by his side as a co-passenger. Their fourth associate Manoj @ Kaku who was in TSR driver’s dress, also joined them and sat with the driver Naseem. As per plan, accused Naseem directed Kaku to sit on the back seat and they managed to hide the briefcase from the view of the victim. Accused Maqsood stole two plastic boxes of diamond/gold/polky jewellery from the suitcase and replaced it with a brick. After committing the theft, accused Maqsood pinched the accused Naseem to confirm that the task has been accomplished. Then, accused Saleem and Kaku told the victim that they have to go to Filmistan and wanted to drop the complainant at Jhandewalan. However, the victim did not agree and they reluctantly dropped him at Gurudwara Road, Karol Bagh near P.P. Jewellers. Thereafter, they reached Ashram by TSR and distributed booty.
RECOVERY:-
8 Necklaces of diamonds with 16 earrings.
5 gold plus stone necklaces with six earrings
3 pairs diamond Kada.
2 single diamond Kada.
2 diamond bracelets.

Concerned police stations have already been informed for necessary action. Efforts are on foot to nab Saleem and Manoj @ Kaku and to recover the remaining booty.
