Prof. Gautam Sinha gets extension as Director- IIM, Kashipur

Prof. Gautam Sinha presently Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kashipur has been given extension in tenure for a period of six months w.e.f. 12.05.2017.

Prof. Gautam Sinha is the founding Director of IIM Kashipur. He has extensive experience of over 3 decades in academia and industry. He has received ‘Best Teacher in Operations Management Award’ at Asia’s Best B-School Awards, Singapore, July 2011. He has a decade long experience with Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) at IIT Kharagpur where he was Professor of Operations, Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Strategy. Additionally, as Professor In-Charge, Training & Placement, IIT Kharagpur, he has successfully organized final and summer internship placements for all students 1300 plus students which is the largest placement activity among all Indian colleges for several years. He also launched the new Executive MBA Programme for IIT Kharagpur at Kolkata and Bhubaneswar campus in 2010.

In addition, he has spent 25 years in the steel and engineering industry with SAIL. Prior to IIM Kashipur, he was Director at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi where he initiated several educational innovations such as the programme on ‘Knowing the real Bharat’ – village based projects for PGDM students of the school. Prof. Sinha has been trained as TQM Trainer by Institute for Resource Development, Columbia, USA in 1991 and received his ISO Lead Assessor Certificate from BSIQA, UK. He has co-authored one book in Management Research. He regularly conducts international and national MDP programs for Senior Management and Middle Management executives for reputed companies such as Tata Motors, CIL, Voltas etc. His publications have appeared in several international and national journals. Prof. Sinha’s English poetry has been published in leading magazines since 1985. His book of poems ‘Refractions’ is also ready for publication. In addition, he is a biker and a motorcycle enthusiast. He has finished a 3000 km bike expedition in HP & Ladakh in June 2009.
