Hon’ble President of India inaugurates 42nd IFTDO World Conference & Exhibition
Annual World Conference of the International Federation of Training & Development Organizations comes to India after 9 years
New Delhi, April 24: The 42nd IFTDO World Conference & Exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, in New Delhi.
One of the most important global events for Human Resource Development (HRD) professionals – the Annual World Conference held in different parts of the globe under the aegis of International Federation of Training & Development Organizations (IFTDO), has come to India after a gap of 9 years.
Mr. B. Prasada Rao, CMD, BHEL is the Chairman and President of IFTDO 2013 World Conference & Exhibition. Mr. Arun Maira, Member Planning Commission is Chairman of the Advisory Board of this Conference. The Advisory Board consists of CEOs of PSUs/Corporates/ Banks/Financial Institutions besides eminent academicians from IIMs, ISB, other renowned Management Institutes, ISTD and Universities.
Each year, the mega event is hosted by different countries and so far, 41 conferences have been held, including three in India in 1975, 1994 and 2004.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Capability Building for Cutting Edge Organizations in New Business Order’. The event has witnessed the participation of nearly 700 delegates from around the world from countries like USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Italy, Norway, Australia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Bahrain, Malaysia, UAE, Egypt and Dubai, besides India.
The event is being hosted by the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), a premier national professional non-profit society. ISTD has a large membership of institutions and professionals involved in the Training & Development of Human Resources from government, public and private sector organizations, institutions and other bodies.
IFTDO is a non-profit, non-governmental organization of Training and Development professionals / organizations from all over the world. It was formed in Geneva, Switzerland in 1970 and has since grown significantly with participation of nearly 100 member organizations. IFTDO represents more than 5 lakh professionals in 35 countries from all the continents of the globe.
Dr. K.R. Gangadharan, President of ISTD is the Co-chairman of this event. Dr. Uddesh Kohli, former Chairman of PFC and Adviser, Planning Commission, is the Secretary General for the Conference. Dr. Pritam Singh, Padamshree Awardee and eminent academician and trainer, is the Chairman of the Conference Programme Committee.
