NORTHERN RAILWAY INAUGURATES FORTNIGHT LONG PROGRAMME “RAILYATRI/UPBHOKTA PAKHWADA” (PASSENGER AND CUSTOMER FACILITATION FORTNIGHT) FROM 26.05.2015 TO 09.06.2015

HEALTH CAMPS, PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMMES ON CLEANLINESS, ANTI-LITERING DRIVES, CAMPAIGN FOR ROAD-USERS AT LEVEL-CROSSING SAFETY

 

In keeping with the directives of the Ministry of Railways, Northern Railway commenced its fortnight long Programme “Railyatri/Upbhokta Pakhwada” (Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight) from 26.05.2015 to 09.06.2015 today at all stations on the five divisions under its jurisdiction. Marking this momentous occasion with several thematic programmes and ceremonial events, the Railway reiterated its commitment towards efficient public services through this customer-centric programme. As part of its commitment towards prevention of social crimes on railway premises and in trains, Northern Railway also organized a seminar on “Gender Sensitization and Child Trafficking” at National Rail Museum, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The seminar was presided over by Shri A.K. Puthia General Manager, Northern Railway. Shri Harananda, IG-cum-CSC, Northern Railway  and senior officers from the Railway were present on the occasion. Special invitees and eminent persons present at the Seminar include Smt. Sudha Choudhary, Law Officer, National Commission for Women, Shri Rakesh Sengar, Director Bachpan Bahao Andolan, Shri S. Naveen Sellaraju, Country Director, Railway Children India. It may be relevant to mention that RPF has rescued 600 children from New Delhi Railway Station during the current year.  Northern Railway has constituted Child Protection Committees at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal and Delhi Shahadra stations in the national capital.

All stations on the Railway wore a festive look with front-line staff in public services wearing thematic T-shirts and Caps. Banner and posters were pasted highlighting the purpose and mission of the Pakhwada. Other common programmes commenced today include Station Inspections, Catering Inspections by Officers and Supervisory staff, Medical Camps, Intensive Ticket Checking camps etc. Railway employees at all have undertaken Shramdaan initiatives to keep their commitment towards Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. Punctuality Drives through focused department-wise participation is underway. Up keep and maintenance of Railway Colonies was checked by nominated officers.

 

Delhi Division of Northern Railway commenced the Pakhwada through a slew of programmes. A Photo Exhibition on 150 years of Railways in Delhi was inaugurated in the Ceremonial Hall of New Delhi station. An exhibition of cleaning equipments for station cleanliness and coach cleanliness was organization with co-participation by industries dealing with cleanliness equipments. Passenger feedback forms from rail travelers were obtained under interactive Rail Pe Charcha theme. Nukkad Nataks on Cleanliness and safety was also organized. A multi-purpose Health Camp was organized at Gohana station. Yoga Camps were organized at various locations. A press conference was held by Shri Arun Arora, Divisional Railway Manager(DRM) at New Delhi wherein a film on Limited Height Subways was shown. DRM also released a calendar on 150 years of Railways in Delhi.

 

Ambala Division of Northern Railway commenced the Pakhwada through various  programmes. The focus Railway Station on this division today was Ambala Railway Station where officers made through inspection of the facilities/amenities along with ticket checking inspections. A safety seminar was organized on the platform using screen and projector. Nukkad Nataks on safety were held near level crossing gates, schools, Panchayats, taxi stands etc. Safety posters were distributed to road users.

 

On Moradabad Division, a public awareness campaign was organized by Civil Defence team at Chandausi. Benches for railway passengers at Railway Station Haridwar were inaugurated marking the occasion. Health camps were organized. On Lucknow Division, Road shows were organized by DRM Lucknow at Lucknow and ADRM at Varanasi .Officers undertook pantry car inspection at both these stations. A seminar on level crossing safety was held at Barabanki. A skit by Scouts and Guides. TTE’s and RPF staff undertook anti- littering drives. Public announcement regarding cleanliness in public places were made. An Ayurvedic camp was organized at Hazrat Ganj.

 

On Ferozepur Division the focus station was Ferozepur Cantt. station where officers and supervisory staff undertook inspection of all passenger interface areas like platform, waiting room/retiring rooms. An Anti- littering drive was under way. A medical camp was organized at Amritsar Railway Station. A seminar on women security was organized at Amritsar with participation by Bhairavi and Vaishali team. Publicity campaign on safety at level crossing was organized at nominated busy level crossing. “May I help you booths” were opened at Jalandhar & Ludhiana stations. On board inspections were made by supervisory staff on trains from Jammu Tawi to New Delhi.

 

The events which shall be undertaken during this fortnight long programme include inauguration/launching of completed projects, signing of MoUs with Railway PSUs for upgrading passenger amenities in certain identified stations, formation of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) with the State Governments for joint development of Infrastructure, Road Shows & Interaction by GMs and DRMs with passengers and other customers by visiting stations and by traveling with public in suburban and other passenger trains, interaction with State Government Authorities, interaction with public seeking their support for Railway’s Cleanliness Campaign and Safety Awareness Campaign at unmanned level crossings, inspection of Railway Stations, drive about courtesy programme for the front line staff, health check-up camps, intensive drive to check catering services, vigilance checks, intensive ticket checking drive, drive against touts etc.
