RENOWNED BOLLYWOOD FASHION DESIGNER MAYYUR GIROTRA OPENS UP FASHION TRUTHS AND MORE IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TARUN SHARMA,EDITOR-IN-CHIEF 

Editor: Please describe in brief INDIA Fashion sense?

M.G: Indian fashion sense now has become vast and we are really globally going to capture soon,because it has become more SERIOUS ,more EDGY, We have gone OUT OF THE BOX,EXPERIMENTAL,SO MANY YOUNG DESIGNERS ON BOARD.Globally we are one of the fashion hub now.

Editor: What are the important factors according to you to become successful ?

M.G: See,Saying becoming successful is very difficult and being very good with your work is different.I would say that you should be very honest to what you do,believe in your product,be original,do exactly what you feel like doing,what comes from within ,follow your own TREND,”MAKE YOUR OWN TREND THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT“.You have to be very eductaed with what happening around.

“When you are introducing and implementing something it should be YOU”.

Editor: Bollywood celebrities like your creations and you have renowned celebrities like Sridevi,Sunny leaone etc. on your clientele list,what’s that attracts these celebrities to your creations ?

M.G: Even with celebrities,they will wear not anything,they’re very” CHOOSY“.if they like it they believe in the designers they;ll reach there end.Now today when Bollywood is wearing me is because they accept me as a designer and believe in my design sense and if i reached here it is because” i really worked hard for it”.

Editor: MAYUR GIROTRA is spelled like this but you have an extra Y prefixed to your name ,what does it indicate is Mayyur superstitious or what?

M.G: Not at all Superstitious,When i was very young Sanjay Jumani changed my name.My name has a double Y not from noe but from last 15 years.When i was in school my mother was into numerology ,so that’s why i got my name changed,it was in paper and then on passport and other credentials.

Editor: Recently renowned actress Sridevi wore your creations fo HiBlitz shoot ,how did the audience took this and particularly Sridevi?

M.G: SRIDEVI was Happy,she got designs from many designer for this HiBlitz shoot but my design was chosen for which i was very exhilarated,everyone was very happy.I was amazed that SRIDEVI at the age of 50 carried the cretaion so fabulously and elegantly as costume being of zero size and meant for models ,but Sridevi because of good health and as she is lot into yoga and other fitness activity was able to carry it very well.

Editor: What according to you INDIA Fashion lacks as compared to premium fashion countries like Paris,New York ETC ?

M.G: INDIA fashion lacks because it has lot of politics,lacks because they still are not able to accept young designers that well,they need to promote young designers more.One thing i openly say is that there is lot more to FASHION and that there is lot of scope here back in INDIA.

We all today have to struggle ,which can be made easy as well,only if the upper layer of the fashion industry changes and clearly saying it is a one man army which should not have been like this and it should have a big body so that there is no bias rule.
TODAY all the show finales goes to the Old set of designers ,the finale has to change ,it shouldn’ t have the same designers every-time for finales,it should change and rotation should be there.This pattern of choosing 7-8 odd designers everytime should be eradicated giving chance to newer lot wherein they can come forward and exhibit their talent and creations.

Editor: If you were to design creations for our political bigwigs what would it had been ?

M.G: Definitely,I always say that our Politicians need to work on their LOOK.They need to look very CRISP,SHARP,EDGY,THEIR MIND HAS TO BE REFLECTED ON THEIR BODY AS WELL AS THEIR LOOK.
When they are entering the parliament,when they have the Lok Sabha sessions there have to be a PROTOCOL followed they should just not wear and come to attend the session.

I think this part is really IGNORED and should be taken care of.

Editor: Everybody has some unfulfilled dream in life,what’s your ?

M.G: Ya,i always wanted to ACT ,when i was in school i did lot of theater but inshallah by god grace i will definitely fulfill my dream in coming days.

Editor: What hurdles you faced in attaining your success ?
M.G: There were lot of hurdles to success ,You have to do your own PR and nobody else but you can do it.And I believe you should have an attitude of” Never give up”.

Editor: Any Hobbies or future aspirations ?
M.G: The only time i get is when i get in car so my hobby is restrianed to listening music. I like R.D.Burman and to Jagjit Singh the ghazal maestro almost everyday i do listen.I want to style for Bollywood.

Editor: Your one line valuable message for your fans and visitors of the portal ?
M.G:” Please listen to your heart and do what you like,be real and you’ll definitely be successful” .
