HISTORICAL MOVE ,FIRST WOMAN HEAD FOR NAVRATNA PSU HPCL -MS.NISHI VASUDEVA

New Delhi:Nishi Vasudeva on Saturday became the first woman to head a Navaratna public sector undertaking – the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).She replaces Subir Roy Choudhury as the chairman and managing director, who demitted office Friday on attaining superannuation.
Ms. Vasudeva, who had created history in July 2011 when she became the first women ever to make to the board of cash-rich oil PSU, is also Vice President — Youth & Gender, World Petroleum Council, the company said in a statement here.

Beginning her career in the oil industry with Engineers India Ltd, she served as Executive Director of LPG at HPCL and was also Chairperson of Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd.

The state-run oil marketing company has “Navaratna” status, that allows its board to make investments of up to Rs.1,000 crore without seeking government permission.

Vasudeva, who in 2011 was the first woman to join the board of HPCL, is also vice president, youth and gender, World Petroleum Council, the company said in a statement here.

Vasudeva, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, has wide experience in the petroleum industry spanning over 36 years in diverse functions including corporate strategy and planning, marketing and information systems.
