“GANDHI A BRITISH AGENT WHO DID GREAT HARM TO INDIA “-WRITES JUSTICE MARKANDEY KATJU ON HIS BLOG
NEW DELHI: Known for his stirring controversies, former chairman of Press Club of India, Justice Markandey Katju has called Mahatma Gandhi ‘a British agent who did great harm to India’.He had first made national headlines when he famously remarked that 90% Indians are idiots. He followed that up with his “gay marriages are unnatural” remark and then his wish to see Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as the next president of India.
This is what Justice Katju wrote in his blog titled – ‘Gandhi—A British Agent’.
“I submit that Gandhi was objectively a British agent who did great harm to India,” Justice Katju, former chairman of Press Council of India, writes after admitting that he is likely to be ‘vilified and denounced by many’ after the post.
He lists out three reasons to support his argument.
“By constantly injecting religion into politics continuously for several decades, Gandhi furthered the British policy of divide and rule,” Justice Katju writes.
He goes on to say that Gandhi “diverted the freedom struggle from this revolutionary direction to a harmless nonsensical channel called Satyagrah. This also served British interests.”
Calling Gandhi’s economic ideas ‘thoroughly reactionary’, Justice Katju writes that self-sufficient villages advocated by the Father of the Nation were ‘casteist and in the grip of money lenders and landlords.’
The blog was shared in large number.
