Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal announces movement for the liberation of Hindu Temples and Mutts

New Delhi, June 22, 2023: Freeing Hindu Temples and Mutts from the state/government control has been Hindu society’s long time demand, and fight for the same, several thousand workers of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal organized a sit-in protest and march on June 19th, 2023  from 12 am-5pm at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

The representatives of various Hindu sects along with the Baridar community, a Religious Denomination associated with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi also participated in the demonstration. The protest got widespread support from the public.

On this occasion, National President of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, Ankur Sharma (Advocate) said that the Free Hindu Temples movement shall be organised by the workers of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal across the the length and breadth of the  country. When the government does not have control over either on the  mosques and churches, then Govt’s insistence on controlling the Hindu temples is revealing. Government is selective in its approach towards Hindu places of worship which reveals its hostility towards the Sanatan Civilsation. Since independence, the Hindu society is being treated with contempt and hostility.

Ankur Sharma further said that Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal is a political vehicle formed with the aim of safeguarding the core of Sanatan Indic Civilisation and Govt’s contempt towards it shall never be tolerated.

“Since independence, all the governments have not only strengthened the law made by the British, but have also tightened these negatively against the Hindus. By controlling the Char Dhams of Uttarakhand, the BJP government, which calls itself Hinduist, has also proved that it is following the same path as the British and Congress in looting Hindu temples and mathas.

On this occasion, National General Secretary of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal Sandeep Dev said that most of the big temples of India are run by different governments. About 4 lakh temples in India are under the control of governments. The government also has the right over the income from this. It is totally unethical, unfair and unconstitutional. According to Sandeep Dev, the government has no role in the running of any mosque and church in the country, then why should the temples remain under the jurisdiction of the government? This is a big question and now the time has come to take the temples and mathas out of government control.

Significantly, the Madras High Court had also said in one of its orders that the government cannot use the land of temples ignoring the interests of them. Not only this, in the year 2019, Justice SA Bobde, the then judge of the Supreme Court, had said in Puri’s Jagannath Temple case that “I do not understand why government officials should run the temple?” Citing the example of Tamil Nadu in his remarks, he said that “there have been many incidents of theft of priceless idols during government control”. Justice Bobde had then clearly stated that “the real reason behind such situations is that the devotees do not have the right to operate their temples.”

Even before this, in 2014, the Supreme Court had ordered to free the famous Nataraja temple of Tamil Nadu from the government control. Be aware that there is no government control over mosques, dargahs and churches in India but the government has control over monasteries and temples. This discrimination should end now.

Representatives and workers of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal from all the states participated in this movement organized at Jantar Mantar. The workers took a pledge that after leaving Jantar Mantar, they would take this movement to their respective states and intensify it further.
