THREE TRAFFIC POLICE PERSONNEL BOOKED FOR EXTORTION

 

Brief facts of the case are that on 22.11.2016 the complainant Sh. Subash Pahuja R/o Janakpuri, Delhi-58 was going to Wazirpur via Mukarba Chowk in his car No. UK-07-BM-4624. When he reached near Adarsh Nagar metro station traffic police staff was checking the vehicles and they stopped the car of the complainant for checking and challaned him. When the complainant was taking out money to pay for challan from the dash board of his car the traffic police personnel saw him carrying two gaddies of demonetized currency notes of Rs. 500. Constables Manoj and Pradeep got into the car and started checking it. When the complainant objected, the constables threatened him to seize his car. He was carrying 1 lakhs and 20 thousand ruppes in which 1 lakh ruppes was of old 500-500 rupee notes and 20 thousand was of 100-100  rupee notes.

 

In the mean time Head Constable Suresh Chand, who was also part of checking staff, reached the spot. The Head constable and the two constables talked to each other and the latter asked them to take the complainant at some distance. On which the complainant was directed to start the car and move. When both constables set in his car they took his mobile phone and took out the sim card from his phone and threw it out. Both the constables were threatening him of imprisonment of 7 years and pressurizing him to give them all the money he had at that time. The complainant requested them not to do so and also told them that his nephew is getting married on 09 December 2016 and the money he is carrying is for his marriage arrangement.

 

Both the constables took the complainant towards ITO and roamed around in his car for 2 hours. They released him after taking the money. Later on the complaint reached Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur Chowk where he found the alleged personnel standing there. After giving them the marriage invitation card of his nephew and requested them to return his money, the traffic officials returned his money and he left for his home. The complainant did not report the matter to the police on the day of incident.

 

On the very next day the complainant came to P.S Adarsh Nagar and gave the information of the incident. A case FIR No. 493/16 U/S 389/120 B IPC was accordingly registered against the alleged Traffic Personnel namely HC Suresh Chand, Ct Manoj and Ct. Pradeep. They have been found posted in Traffic Circle, Model Town. The trio has been running absent.

 

Investigation of the case is in progress.
