DELHI POLICE INITIATIVE “PRAHARI” HELD,CP DELHI AMULYA PATNAIK GRACE THE EVENT

“PRAHARI SCHEME” AN INITIATIVE OF OUTER DISTRICT, DELHI

 

  • SHRI AMULYA PATNAIK, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, DELHI WAS THE CHIEF GUEST OF ‘PRAHARI’, AN INITIATIVE OF OUTER DISTRICT TO INVOLVE SECRITY GUARDS, CHOWKIDARS AND POLICE MITRAS AS FORCE MULTIPLIER FOR PREVENTION OF CRIME.

 

  • MORE THAN 1200 POLICE MITRAS AND SECURITY GUARDS/CHOWKIDARS ATTENDED THE ‘PRAHARI’ PROGRAM.

 

  • REWARDS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO SECURITY GUARDS AND CHOWKIDARS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN PREVENTION OF CRIME TO MOTIVATE AND ENCOURAGE THEM.

 

  • 1000 SECURITY KITS EACH CONTAINING CAP, TORCH, SHOES, WHISTLE, LATHI AND REFLECTIVE JACKET DISTRIBUTED TO SECURITY GUARDS AND CHOWKIDARS FOR THEIR DAILY USE TO RAISE THEIR MORALE AND SPIRIT.

Outer District of Delhi Police took an initiative to include security guards, chowkidaars and police mitras in prevention of crime and in maintaining law and order by launching a community policing scheme named “PRAHRI” in a program held at Police Station Aman Vihar Outer District, Delhi. Shri Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police  Delhi was the Chief Guest.,Spl CP/L&O(South) Shri P Kamraj, Spl CP/L&O (North) Shri S B K Singh, Special CP, Spl. CP(SW Range) Shri Deependra Pathak and other senior officers were present. Over 1500 public persons comprising members of RWAs, MWAs, Police Mitras, chowkidars and security guards were present.

THE PRAHARI SCHEME

The “PRAHARI” scheme has been initiated in the Outer District with the spirit and understanding the importance of functions perform by chowkidars/security guards in policing in its vast territorial jurisdiction. With the help of this scheme capacity of policing will be greatly augmented. Chowkidars will act like eye and ears of police. It will help to bring professionalism in the work of chowkidars by giving them appropriate training and enabling frequent police-Prahari interaction. Also this will help tp convey long due social recognition to the hard work done by Prahari. They will be motivated to do their job with zeal and commitment. Prahari will be partners in ensuring peace and security. During this scheme, all chowkidars, guards i.e. PRAHARIS were enlisted who are about 1000 in number they are being given training in various aspects of area surveillance, frisking, keeping watch on doubtful elements etc. In this way man power of more than 1000 is virtually added in the Outer District police for more effective and visible service delivery.

This integration process will definitely enhance the morale of the Praharis and they will take pride in their job. Police mitras are also involved in this scheme, they will also act in their own way of watchfulness and alertness in the area, which will also effectively help in increasing sense of security in general. Both Praharis and police mitras will be partners in ensuring peace and security.

An oath was sworn to PRAHARIS by DCP Outer District for keeping integrity, sincerity towards their job. Best security guards were selected from every Police Station area of Outer Districts and cash rewards with certificates were distributed to them. All the one thousand security guards were provided with security kit containing Cap, Torch, Shoes, whistle, lathi and reflective jacket to raise their morale and spirit.

Police Mitras and officials present were welcomed by Spl CP/SWR Sh. Deependra Pathak, IPS. Addressing the program, the Chief Guest, Shri Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi highlighted the various areas where chowkidars/security guards and police mitras can help police. He said that the with the active cooperation from chokidars, security guards and police mitras Police can provide much better service to the public at large.

DCP/Outer District thanked the participants for their enthusiastic response to the program.

The PRAHARI scheme will definitely give a boost to effectively deliver police service to the society.
