Delhi Government reduces water and sewer development charges for 3 months in unauthorized colonies by 80 %,more than 1 lakh household to benefit

More than 1 lakh households of unauthorized colonies avail benefits of reduced water and sewer development charges.
Delhi Government reduced the water and sewer development charges for 3 months in unauthorized colonies by 80 %.
Sewer development charges were reduced from Rs.494/- per sq mtr to Rs.100/- per sq mtr and water development charges from Rs.440/- to Rs.100/- per sq mtr.
The last date for availing the benefits of reduced development charges is 25th Sept.2015.
Charges for regularization of illegal connections also reduced from Rs.18,000/- to Rs.3,300/-
DJB appeals to the people to come forward and take benefit of reduced development charges.
More than 1 lakh households of unauthorized colonies of Delhi have come forward so far to avail the benefit of reduced sewer and water development charges. Thousands of households are coming forward every day and are submitting application for new sewer and water connections and avail the benefit. The Government of NCT of Delhi had reduced the sewer and water development charges in June this year for a period of 3 months.
The Development charges in unauthorized colonies were reduced by 80 % to enable people of unauthorized colonies to take regular water and sewer connections. The sewer development charges were reduced from Rs.494/- per sq mtr to Rs.100/- per sq mtr and water development charges were reduced from Rs.440/- per sq mtr to Rs.100 per sq mtr. As per the Cabinet decision, the reduced rates are applicable only for a period of 3 months i.e. from 26th June, 2015 to 25th Sept.2015.
Delhi Jal Board has also reduced the regularization charges for unauthorized/illegal connections from Rs.18,000/- to Rs.3,300/-. These reduced charges are also valid till 25th Sept., 2015. From 26th Sept., 2015 the original sewer and water development charges as well as regularization charges will apply.
The applications for new connections can be submitted in the office of the Zonal Revenue Officer concerned of Delhi Jal Board. The reduced development and connection charges may be deposited in that office. The facility of online application and online payment is also available. DJB also organized camps in various locations across Delhi to collect application for sewer and water connections under the reduced development and regularization charges. Special arrangements have been made to receive the application in the office of the Zonal Revenue Officer till the last date i.e. 25th September 2015.
DJB appeals to the people living in unauthorized colonies who have not availed water and sewer connections to apply for the new connection immediately and avail the benefit of massive reduction in development charges before the last date i.e. 25th September 2015. People living in other areas also may avail benefit of reduced charges for regularization of illegal connections from Rs.18,000/- to Rs.3300/- till 25th Sept, 2015.
DJB has also recently taken a number of decisions to facilitate & encourage people to take legal water and sewer connections. The maximum number of connections in a property have been increased from 6 to 10. ‘Mixed land use’ category has been abolished. Regularization charges for illegal connections have been reduced drastically.
DJB has also launched enforcement drive against illegal connections. In last one month, more than 4,000 people have been prosecuted for having illegal connections and misusing water. The driver will be intensified in the coming month.
