DELHI GOVERNMENT LABOUR MINISTER GOPAL RAI STATES INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGES OF SEMI-SKILLED AND SKILLED LABOUR IN DELHI
MINIMUM WAGES HIKED IN DELHI – SHRI GOPAL RAI
- UNSKILLED, SEMI-SKILLED AND SKILLED LABOUR MONTHLY WAGES GOES UP

Delhi labour Minister Shri Gopal Rai today stated that the City Government has increased the Minimum Wages of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled labour in Delhi. This reflects pro-active, pro-labour policies of the City Government. He further stated that Labour Department is involved in taking steps in the direction of labour welfare to make the city a role model in this field.
Labour Minister announces enhancement in notified rates of minimum wages for workers employed in scheduled employments in the organized as well as unorganized sectors by declaring instalment of dearness allowance which comes in operation w.e.f. 01.10.2015.
The following rates are applicable in respect of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled categories in all scheduled employments except employment in ‘Shops and Establishments’ and employment in ‘Clubs’.

Shri Rai said that this enhancement/increase in wages will not only neutralize the inflation rate but also provide succour and financial ease to large number of workers working in Delhi. The calculations are based on increase in All India Consumer Price Index Number and the DA is calculated on the basis of the same.
The Labour Minister has also asked Labour Department to ensure the implementation of these new rates in letter and spirit. The workers who are paid less than the minimum rates of wages specified above, may file his claim before the Joint Labour Commissioner/Dy. Labour Commissioner of the concerned District who are notified as Authority under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 to hear and decide the claims relating to less payment of wages than the minimum rates of wages as notified.
