Central Electronics Limited Signs MoU with NISE
Central Electronics Limited (CEL), a PSU under Ministry of Science & Technology and National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), an institution under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in the field of Solar Energy.
CEL and NISE will now collaborate on development of quality systems, procedures and infrastructure for on-grid and off-grid solar applications. These two organizations will undertake joint studies including feasibility reports, market survey, technology survey, performance evaluation, resource assessment etc. and work on solar projects based on emerging and innovative concepts/technology.
Mr. Manoj Sharma, PRO of CEL informed that CEL has pioneered Solar Photovoltaics in the country. After manufacturing India’s First solar cell in 1977 CEL went on to manufacture the country’s first solar panel in 1978. CEL holds the distinction of supplying, installing and commissioning India’s first solar power plant in 1992 . This company has pioneered many indigenous technologies in field of Railway Electronics and Defense Electronics also. In the last 5 years CEL has grown at a fast pace and developed a number of solar photovoltaic applications for Indian conditions which include solar rickshaw, solar tree, building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) power plants, light weight panels for tin roof & Facades, flexible solar panels for installation on railway coaches, etc. It is worth mentioning that CEL today has 1.3MW of solar power plants on campus with almost 40% of its total energy consumption coming from solar energy.
