The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Additional General Manager, Microwave Project, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL), Bhubaneswar (Odisha) while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1,00,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered on 04.04.2017 on a complaint. The complainant (a Contractor) had alleged that the Additional General Manager, Microwave Project, BSNL, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) demanded a bribe of Rs.1,00,000/- from him for passing his pending bills related to duct laying & other works which was due for payment to the tune of Rs.10 lakh(approx) by BSNL. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1,00,000/- from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the residence of the accused at Bhubaneswar & Rayagada District (Odisha) which led to recovery of cash for Rs.14.93 lakh(approx); US $ 603 (approx); 03 bank locker keys; documents related to properties, including flats, plots at Bhubaneshwar and shares, debenture/policy etc.
The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Bhubaneswar and remanded to Judicial Custody.
