B S BASSI (IPS),DELHI POLICE COMMISSIONER INAUGRATES POLICE ASSISTANCE BOOTH AT RAJIV CHOWK METRO STATION

Police Assistance Booth inaugurated at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station by Commissioner of Police Delhi.

On 04.03.2014, the Delhi Police Assistance Booth was inaugurated at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station by Sh. B.S. Bassi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The function was attended by Sh. Mangu Singh, MD, DMRC, Spl. CP/Admn. Sh. Alok Kumar, Spl. CP/L & O Sh. Deepak Mishra, Spl. CP/Spl. Cell, Director Operations, Sh. Sharad Sharma, DMRC, Jt. CP/NDR and other Senior Officers of Delhi Police .

OBJECTIVE OF SETTING UP THE BOOTH

Unlike territorial Police Station, the jurisdiction of a Metro Police Station is spread over a long distance. The total distance between Rajiv Chowk Metro Station & Sector -21 Dwarka Metro Station of Police Station Raja Garden Metro is about 32 Km. The average time taken from Police Station to reach a Metro Station is about half an hour. Hence, it was essential to have the presence of police personnel at the visible & designated point at Metro Station itself where a complainant could approach the police. Thus the staff of Delhi Police would now be available at a designated place at Rajeev Chowk Metro Station itself. Some of the other advantages of Police Assistance Booth at Metro Station would be:-

1.         A Police Assistance Booth at Metro station with staff  will be more visible than a   police man patrolling at platform.

2.         The Police Assistance Booth will be first point of interaction between police and a             complainant or any person in distress at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

3.         These booths will facilitate better policing at respective Metro Stations.

4.         The booth will ensure the presence of police personal at the Metro Station. This will act as a deterrent to anti-social elements like eve teasers etc..

5.         A complainant will not have to travel to police station as he can now submit his   complaint at the Police Booth itself at Rajiv Chowk.

Similar Police Assistance Booths will also be set up at other Metro Stations like Kirti Nagar Metro Station, Inder Lok MRS, Dilshad Garden MRS, Kashmiri Gate MRS, Central Secretariat MRS, Chandni Chowk MRS, Nehru Place MRS etc.
