As the incident of night burglaries were being reported in the Outer District, the local Police Station Mangol Puri have been working hard to identify the criminals committing such crimes. A team under the overall supervision of ACP/Rohini Sh. Manoj C., IPS and supervised by Inspr. Ashok Sharma, SHO/Mangol Puri consisting of SI Gaurav Dahiya, SI Amit Nara, HC Gurmail, W/HC Asha, HC Sawai, Ct. Gaurav, Ct. Momin, Ct. Vinod, Ct. Sunil, Ct. Dinesh, W/Ct Savita & W/Ct. Seema was constituted to work on these cases of night burglaries. The team had been tirelessly working to develop intelligence after studying the modus operandi. They have also scrutinized the CCTV cameras installed in the area of PS Mangol Puri. During such scrutiny, it was found that in a case of burglary, the women were seen to be committing such crime at a shop. Based on this input, they started working on the women burglars.

While they were working on this task, an information was received that an auto-rickshaw was also being used to transport the criminals. On receipt of specific information that one female Geeta r/o Jhuggi Uttam Nagar is the leader of such gang, a trap was laid and auto-rickshaw was stopped with six females. They were questioned about their presence in that area. On finding their reply suspicious, they were further interrogated. During such interrogation, they disclosed that they are residents of Uttam Nagar and used to recce the target during previous evening and during early hours they used to commit crimes. The modus-operandi was very typical in which five women would provide cover with their shawls as if they are changing their clothes as nobody would suspect the women and one of the women burglars, who was lean and thin & youngest of all, would sneak in the shop after other members broke the middle lock with an implement & bend the shutter of the shop and stole the cash and other items.

The auto-driver Upender Singh, who is resident of Uttam Nagar, was also part of the gang who used to ferry these criminals for both recce and also at the time of commission of the crime. So far an amount of Rs. 34,500/-, one lock breaking instrument, a bag of the gas agency and the TSR have been recovered.

Further investigations are on.
