Salman Khan to be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in 2002 hit and run case

Mumbai: In a huge setback for Bollywood actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Sessions Court rejected his review petition on Monday in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

Salman Khan will now be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This means that he will now be tried under Section 304, of IPC. If convicted the actor may face upto ten years in jail.

Earlier, Khan had been tried under the less severe Section 304A of IPC, relating to causing death by negligence, which stipulates a maximum two years in jail.
