DELHI GOVERNMENT PLANS STATE LEVEL MOCK EXERCISE TO HANDLE MAJOR DISASTERS

A state level mock exercise has been planned in NCT of Delhi on 30.6.2017 for training of Incident Response Teams to enable them to handle major disasters. This exercise has been planned by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority.
During this exercise, all stakeholders of the Government and districts and the Indian Army and the Central Armed Police Forces including NDRF, located in Delhi will participate. For this exercise, the coordination will be done by the State EOC, through the District EOCs. The communication plan will be managed by the Delhi Police Control Room, Fire Control Room. All dedicated crisis and disaster radio networks will be activated. The mock drill will be largely for earthquake, which may manifest itself in multiple disaster scenarios at different places all over Delhi.
An Orientation Conference has been held on 15th June, 2017 followed by a Coordination conference on today 28.6.17 from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM, which were attended by senior officers of various departments associated with the disaster management activities in Delhi and also the officers of the Central Armed Police Forces.
A Table Top exercise on 29.6.17 and the Mock Exercise will be held on 30.6.2017 where multiple sites will be selected depicting multiple damages. This entire exercise has been designed with an aim of testing the coordination among the various agencies and the response for rescue and relief work by various ESFs.
