DELHI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ALUMNI MEET HELD


New Delhi February 11: The Delhi College of Enginnering (now DTU) – Alumni Association organised its Annual Meet at FICCI Auditorium in New Delhi.

The Meet was attended by about 1000 alumni & their family members. It was inaugurated by Dr. R.P. Agarwal, Chairman, Board of Directors, Delhi Technical University, who outlined his vision for the growth of the institute and the connect of the alumni with the institute. Prof P.B. Sharma, Vice chancellor, DTU also adressed the alumni present on the occasion. The President of the Alumni Assocition, Sh. Karnal Singh, IPS and Vice Presidents, Sh. S.M. Mahajan, BHEL and Sh. Suresh Raheja, Raheja Design & Construction and other office bearers of the association  felicitated the Golden Jubilee (1963) and Silver Jubilee (1988) batches. 

 

The Alumni Association conferred Distinquished Alumni Awards to Sh. Ashok Khurana, DG/CPWD; Sh. O.P. Bhutani, Director/BHEL; Sh. I.J. Kapoor, Director/NTPC Ltd. and Sh. Sanjay Nayar, CEO/KKR India. A special Award was also conferred on Sh. Amul Gabrani, MD/Tecpro group of Cos. Distinguished Faculty Awards were conferred on Prof. K.C. Palta, Prof. B.N. Mishra and Prof. N.L. Sachdev. Meritorious students of the Institute were also honoured on the occasion.
The alumni present included engineers as old as 1948 batch as also those from the US, Middle East, Europe, etc. The DCE-Alumni Association was formed in 1998 to provide a social connect between the alumni. Sh. S.M. Mahajan, its Vice President, mentioned that the DCE alumni are doing exceedinglly well in India and abroad and the Association recognises and honours the outstanding contributions made by its alumni in various fields of the country’s economy through a well laid down selection process and awards Distinquished Alumni Status to such alumni. The association, primarily Delhi based, has chapters in Haridwar and Mumbai and plans to open more chapters in US/Canada, Bangalore & Chennai
