CONTROVERSIAL FILM “BELLY OF THE TANTRA” TO BE SCREENED TODAY AT INDIA HABITAT CENTRE

New Delhi: Documentary film, ‘Belly of the Tantra’, which is controversial and was initially banned in India due to the subject matter.  The documentary, which had it’s Indian premiere in Mumbai at The NCPA Tata Theatre, has gone on to screening across the globe and has received very positive reviews and accolades for the unique and dynamic subject matter and the production approach of the film.’Belly of the Tantra will screen today at INDIA HABITAT CENTRE,New Delhi

Directed by Pankaj Purohit and produced by Babita Modgil, Belly of the Tantra is a full length documentary in collaboration with the the Indian Documentary Producers’ Association (IDPA).  The documentary deals with the topic of tantra and the blind belief and rituals that are carried out because of it.  By exploring an ancient and eccentric sect of Hinduism along the river Ganges and throughout India which has sparked much controversy and significant taboo, the film challenges people’s notions about faith and the limits to which one can go.
