To achieve 9 to 10% p.a. growth for 3 decades which would lead to transformation of the nation & poverty being eliminated.

Japan, Korea, China all grew in the back of manufacturing. India’s growth is on the back of the services.

Growth of the services sector, without stress on manufacturing would result in skipping the industrialisaion era.

Manufacturing creates job opportunities and the job challenges can be overcome through growth in manufacturing.

So for that we need to :

  1. a) Make India an easy place to do business, so that manufacturing can easily get established.
  2. b) India must become integral part of the global supply chain
  3. c) Excel in manufacturing eg. Auto components like Renault bringing out the Quid. Also in the compact car segment becoming the most coveted. This demonstrates India’s strength in technology innovation frugal engineering and availability of highly skilled manpower. Also examples of manufacturing ECG machines at one-tenth cost of that in USA, demonstrating excellence in frugal engineering. And ISRO sent a satellite for on-tenth cost.

In this context he lauded Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) movement being initiated by Quality Council of India (QCI) which will change the manufacturing landscape of the country transforming the completely MSME sector.
