FASHION DESIGNER JATTINN KOCHHAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EDITOR

FASHION DESIGNER JATTINN KOCHHAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH EDITOR

IN INDIA OUR CREATIVENESS IS  BEING TERMED AS “DARZI” AND WE DON’T GET THE RESPECT AND LOVE WE GET WORLDWIDE SAYS JATTINN KOCHHAR ACE FASHION DESIGNER IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH OUR EDITOR-IN-CHIEF TARUN SHARMA

JATTINN KOCHHAR THE ACE DELHI BORN FASHION DESIGNER HAVE A KNACK NOT ONLY FOR FASHION BUT HE IS A DIVERSIFIED PERSONALITY WITH INTEREST IN INTERIOS AND PAINTING TOO.AND JATTINN HAVING NO FORMAL QUALIFICATION IN FASHION STILL HAS BECOME A NAME OF REPUTE IN THE WORLDWIDE FASHION CIRCLE.

IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH OUR EDITOR -IN-CHIEF MR. TARUN SHARMA HE UNVEILS THE UNHEARD AND PATHBREAKING FACTS ABOUT FASHION.

Editor: Please define FASHION from Jattinn Kochhar perspective.

JK:For me i prefer to do CLEAN,FUSS FREE and PRACTICAL DESIGN which has a very strong URBAN INFLUENCE,almost very MINIMALIST where the emphasis is on fabric and cut.I don’t use embellishments like lehnga choli’s have , i do fashion which is globally accepted, the way people wear clothes worldwide.

Editor: Where do you think FASHION INDUSTRY is heading ,and is the right direction ,if not why so.

JK: We fashion professionals what we have achieved today in the last two decades is really condemnable and that too considering the fact that we didnt had the support of the government all these decades and it has been a loss to the government also for not supporting.WE HAVE ZERO SUPPORT FROM THE GOVERNMENT ALSO WE HAVE SO MANY TAXES SUCH AS FABRICS,EVENTS ETC,it is so complicated. Why is it so complicated jattin added.whereas if you see internationally and if i take the example of Japan as a country ,the government supports the fashion industry fullfledgedly.

“THE AMOUNT OF RESPECT AND LOVE WE GET BEING A CREATIVE PERSON WHEN WE TRAVEL OVERSEAS IS GREAT “but here back in our country we are merely seen as a term” DARZI” only and don’t get the respect of being a creative person such is the outlook of us back in our native place.

Editor:Fashion Designers in INDIA are caught several time by fashion police on INTERNATIONAL IMITATION ,whats your say on that.

JK: IMITATION is a worldwide phenomenon ,Do you think International designers dont copy us then you are mistaken on this. Most people dont know that all the BEADING on international labels are mostly donein INDIA and it is done not from now but long time back. For example Mathew Williamson is a huge fan of INDIA.Every state in INDIA is a country by itself for its clothing, food, behaviour and social conditioning everything is so unique,so mostly the international designers come here to get there work done.

Editor: There are lot of fashion designers all across the nation, you being an ace and successful designer, what do you feel are the right ingredients to become a fashion designer of repute.

JK: You have to be TALENTED ,by TALENTED i mean to say,You have to have the ABILITY TO CREATE ORIGINAL,UNIQUE DESIGNS.That’s why there are odd 20 names or so which comes to your mind when you think of Indian designers of repute.
By seeing the garment i can tell whose creation is it of GUDDA,JJ OR XYZ etc. These people have been able to create SIGNATURE STYLES which clients can identify worldwide.

Editor:Which was your first fashion show which touched your heart and changed your outlook towards FASHION.

JK: IT IS LIKE ASKING WHICH IS YOUR BEST CHILD.I do on an average 12 shows in a calender year .In each show i learn something as my every show had its own USP.In 1995 i did a show for large size women and it was fun and as who walked the ramp were not professional models and real self i have to tell them to be what they are and to walk as they walk in there own style
“So what if you are big size still you can look good” ,that was the whole idea behind this show on large size women.

Editor:What is the support being an ace designer your fashion community seek from Government of INDIA to take INDIA fashion sense noticed worldwide.

JK: If i got to the bank and say that i am FASHION DESIGNER and i want a loan ,i will not get one because FASHION DESIGNERS ARE STILL TILL DATE NOT CONSIDERED A PROFESSION .

The fisrt thing we need to do rectify in the political arena is the infusion of young blood as the old in the system dont have FASHION sense and when they dont understand fashion who will this profession gets a boost and the industry gets a recognigance.
We are the second largest country in the world in terms of population but there is a lot of conflict in what Indian’s say and they do.
INDIA’s bureaucracy thinks that they are supreme and dont analyze the designers potentials before assigning the great shows and final decisions are taken by them on there own choice.

FASHION TAKES A BACKSEAT WHEN IT COMES TO INDIAN BUREAUCRACY TAKING A CALL ON THIS.

Editor: KHADI KURTA PYAJAMAS is the dress commonly which our INDIAN netas wear ,if you given the choice of designing the costume of the political bigwigs what would you have opted for.

JK: I would have opted for KNIT KURTA PYAJAMAS as normal Khadi Kurta Pyajamas are made of woven fabric .I said Knit because knit is very much comfortable as the knit moves along with the skin.

Editor: IT is said that behind every successful man there has been a women,do you have any connect to this on your success.

JK:Yes Certainly.i would owe my success to three and not one – my Mom,Wife and my little daughter.

Editor:Your valuable message for your fans and visitors of the portal.

JK: I want to share a personal message and not a fashion one,i want to convey:

“ALWAYS AVOID VISITING YOUR PAST BECAUSE ,NO MATTER HOW GOOD OR BAD IT WAS ,IF YOU VISIT IT AGAIN YOU ARE GURANTEED TO BE MISERABLE”- SO LIVE IN YOUR PRESENT ALWAYS.
