New Delhi:Dr. K Kasturirangan HIGHLIGHTED Spin-offs from India’s Space Programme to the several facets of health care applications
· Use of space techniques involving the use of space imaging techniques to early detection of cancer, cardiovascular disease , heart surgery as well as continuous monitoring of astronaut heart in space with relevance to similar needs on the ground .
· Futuristic developments involving the Bio-Capsules to reduce the effect of high radiation levels , treating diabetes and brain cancer as well as their use in gene therapy.
· How experience from human space flight has led to several interesting ground based application such as artificial heart , kidney dialysis , invisible braces , sun glasses as well as other bio-medical instruments .
· Use of satellite connectivity for Tele-medicine
